Sunshine Coast & Hinterland

The Coast begins at Caloundra, just one hour's drive north of Brisbane and extends to Cooloola, the gateway to Fraser Island.

It takes in tranquil and lush countryside of:

  • Blackall Range (Maleny, Montville, Mapleton, Flaxton, Kenilworth, Witta)
  • Noosa Hinterland (Cooroy, Pomona, Cooran, Eumundi, Noosa Valley, Lake Weyba)
  • Mary Valley
  • The inland townships of Buderim, and Yandina
  • More than 100 kilometres of pristine coastline stretching the Coastal Way (Currimundi, Mooloolaba, Coolum, Caloundra)

It is the perfect place to unwind.

Spectacular national parks offer a mix of rugged mountains, dramatic beaches, tranquil everglades, peaceful rainforest and lakes, wild rivers, rushing waterfalls and wetlands teeming with birdlife. There is literally hundreds of walking tracks and trails on offer on the Sunshine Coast.

The Sunshine Coast offers some truly memorable outdoor adventures. You can paddle a canoe quietly through the everglades, join a river cruise or enjoy the pleasures of fishing deep sea, river, estuary or off the nearest jetty. Grab your board and head to some of the best surfing hotspots. There are world class dive sites including the decommissioned destroyer ex HMAS Brisbane lying three nautical miles off the coast. Take a horseback trek through the bush or a camel safari along the beach. Hop on the back of a Harley Davidson or take a 4WD tour to Fraser Island. For the ultimate adrenalin rush try abseiling, skydiving or the thrill of a jet boat ride.

If that all sounds a little too adventurous, visit one of the region's many international style day spas and really take the time to relax, indulge and nurture yourself. After all, you deserve it! Or if a game of golf is your activity of choice, our championship courses will not disappoint.

Culturally, the region is thriving with talented and passionate artisans and craftsman, browse the local markets feasting upon the best of what's in season from our local growers and producers.

The region is becoming one of Australia's most talked-about culinary centres. The Sunshine Coast is within easy reach of Brisbane, with access by rail and by road via the Bruce Highway. The region supports a domestic airport at Maroochydore with direct flights from Sydney and Melbourne.
