Capricorn Region
Capricorn Region has a reputation of being relaxed, peaceful, quiet and laid back.
The authenticity of the experience and friendliness of the locals are recognised as being core strengths.
The overarching ‘Central Queensland’ destination banner covers the tourism regions of Gladstone and Capricorn.
Home to friendlier people than you’ve met before, more captivating places than you knew existed and unforgettable adventures you can’t have anywhere else, Central Queensland offers much more than you’d expect.
From the tropical paradise of the Keppel Islands and the unspoilt playground of the Capricorn Coast, to the heritage buildings of thriving Rockhampton, the friendly towns that stretch all the way to the Outback, through the Central Highlands, Emerald and the Sapphire Gemfields, to Lake Maraboon, the lush Byfield rainforest and the majestic Carnarvon Gorge, the Capricorn region has it all.
The Central Queensland region incorporates the Cities of Gladstone and Rockhampton and the 11 Shires of Banana, Bauhinia, Calliope, Duaringa, Emerald, Fitzroy, Jericho, Livingstone, Miriam Vale, Mount Morgan and Peak Downs. Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Limited and Capricorn Tourism are the two official Regional Tourism Organisations (RTOs).
